the packages

The price follows the size of the site, never the care

A single page gets the same care as a ten-page site. What changes from one package to the next is the scope, not the quality.

No box is a refusal: what a package does not include can be added to it at the amount shown. The copy comes from you in every package; I lay it out and structure it, I do not write it. The privacy policy is provided as a matter of course and does not count as a page. SEO settings are in every package: it is a way of building, not an option to bill.

What people ask me before signing

How much does a website cost in Québec?

Between $800 and $3,000 with me, depending on the page count. A single page is $800, a three-page site $1,200, a five-to-seven-page site with its English version $1,800, and a ten-page site or an online shop $3,000. Redoing an existing site costs $1,500: your content already exists, so there is less work. These amounts are firm and settled in advance, not estimates to be adjusted along the way. They include the custom design, the page build, the quote form, the SEO settings and the Google listing, a thirty-minute training session and thirty days of support. Taxes are extra, and you pay in three instalments: 50% on signing, 25% on design approval, 25% at launch. Hosting and upkeep are billed separately, at $25 a month or $240 a year with two months free, and nothing else is a mandatory subscription.

How can the price be set in advance?

Because I know how long each of these packages takes. I have delivered them often enough not to have to guess, and a settled price beats an estimate that drifts. The amount only moves if you ask for something that is not on the list of inclusions. Those add-ons are posted too: the English version at $100, online bookings at $300, an online shop at $900. You see them before you sign, not on a final invoice. What makes this possible is scope. Every package has its page count and its number of revision rounds. Nothing is left to "we will see", and it is that "we will see" that turns an estimate into a surprise. And if you do ask for something extra along the way, I quote it before I start it, never after.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes, in three: 50 % on signing, 25 % on design approval, 25 % at launch. The first instalment covers discovery and design, where half the work goes. No interest, no multi-year contract, and the site is yours from launch, not after thirty-six monthly payments. On a one-page site, that is $400 to start.

Who owns the site once it is delivered?

You do. The domain is registered in your name and you pay for it, the site is your property, and the code is handed over on request. No technical hostage-taking: if our paths separate, you leave with everything, and I transfer the file to whoever you choose.

Who writes the copy?

You do. You know your trade better than I do, and nobody describes a service better than the person who provides it. I send you a page-by-page plan, what to provide, in what order, at what length; you fill it in, and I take care of the layout and the structure. It is also what keeps the prices where they are: professional copywriting runs $150 to $400 a page in Québec, and it is not my trade.

Do I edit the site myself?

By default, no: changes go through me, and that is deliberate. A custom site holds together because nobody undoes a layout by pasting text in the wrong place. Small changes are covered by the hour of tweaks included every year, and I can give you editing access if you want it.

Do I have to take the hosting?

Hosting is part of the service, at $25 a month, or $240 a year with two months free. An online shop needs more watching: $45 a month. The site is yours and can be moved if you want, but the updates, the backups and the yearly hour of changes only apply on my server: it is the only place I can answer for them.

What if I want to change something later?

A line of text, a price, opening hours: that falls under the hour of changes included every year with the hosting. You write to me, and I usually do it quickly, faster still if it is urgent, just say so. Beyond that hour, changes are $85 an hour, billed in thirty-minute blocks.

How long before I am live?

We agree on the schedule in the quote, and it starts from the moment I have your copy and your images, not when you sign: that is almost always where projects stretch. I send you a page-by-page plan, what to supply and in what order, and the schedule moves forward when you hand it back. If your content arrives in pieces, I build what I can and hold the rest. The rest is predictable: you see the design first and approve it, then I build the pages. Each package includes its rounds of revisions, two or three depending on size. The full breakdown is on the Services page.
